A good networking event venue in Boston gives you a room or a section you can hold for a set time, a few minutes' walk from a T station. For a meetup with a speaker, that usually means a coworking event room downtown or in Back Bay, and for a mixer, a bar that takes group reservations. You run a meetup group or a professional association, the RSVPs are coming in, and guests will arrive from Cambridge, Somerville and the South Shore at 6 p.m.

This post lists seven places, then covers rooms versus bars, start times and the trip in. It's part of our guide to Boston.

Which networking event venue in Boston fits your meetup?

Match the venue to the format. Pick an event room when someone speaks, a bar when people only mingle, and a cafe for a small morning group.

Our picks in Boston

  • Workbar Downtown Boston

Host a meetup with a speaker or a panel here, because Workbar rents its event space for networking nights after 5 p.m. on weekdays. Ask which room size this floor has. State station on the Orange and Blue lines is about a 2-minute walk.

  • Workbar Back Bay

Book this coworking floor when most guests work in Back Bay or ride the Green Line. Event bookings run after 5 p.m. on weekdays or anytime on weekends, from $250 an hour. Arlington station is about a 2-minute walk.

  • Back Bay Social

Reserve tables at this moderately priced restaurant and bar for a mixer that runs past dinner. It suits groups and is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. every day. Copley on the Green Line is about a 7-minute walk.

  • Apex Rooftop Bar and Lounge

For a rooftop mixer near the Financial District, this bar takes reservations and suits groups. It's closed on Monday and opens at 5 p.m. Tuesday to Friday. State and Aquarium stations are each about a 4-minute walk.

  • The Irving at The Lenox

Small groups who want a drink after a Copley Square event can head to this cocktail bar inside The Lenox Hotel. It's good for groups, moderately priced and opens at 4 p.m. on most days. Copley station is about a 3-minute walk.

  • Headroom Hi-Fi Lounge

Seaport and Fort Point workers can walk to this lounge straight from the office. It takes reservations, suits groups and is open 5 to 11 p.m. Monday to Saturday, closed Sunday. Courthouse on the Silver Line is about a 1-minute walk.

  • Sip Café

Keep this inexpensive cafe in Post Office Square for a morning coffee meetup of a few people before work. It opens at 7 a.m. on most weekdays, takes no reservations and is closed on Sunday. State station is about a 5-minute walk.

Google Maps

Hours, price levels, reservations and group details on these cards come from Google Maps as of November 2026. Workbar's booking times and prices come from its event space page. Walk times are Google Maps walking directions from each MBTA station a note names.

Should you book an event room or a bar?

Book a room when the meetup has a program. Book a bar when the point is open conversation.

  • A room with a program. Talks, panels and pitch nights need seats, a screen and a door you can close. Workbar says its rooms range from about 20 to 100 guests and are for professional events such as mixers and panels.
  • A bar for mingling. A mixer works best when people can stand and move between groups. Back Bay Social, Apex and Headroom take reservations, so ask each one how many guests a held section fits.
  • Both in one night. Hold the talk at Workbar Back Bay, then walk the group to The Irving or Back Bay Social on Boylston Street for drinks.

What time should a networking meetup start?

Start at 6 or 6:30 p.m. on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. That gives guests time to leave work and still catch a train home.

Workbar takes weekday events only after 5 p.m., so 6 p.m. is the earliest realistic start there. Apex is closed on Monday and Headroom is closed on Sunday, so check the day before you post the invite.

A breakfast meetup avoids evening plans entirely. Sip Café opens at 7 a.m. on most weekdays, which leaves an hour before most offices start.

How will guests get there from across Boston?

Choose a venue near a transfer station so guests change trains at most once.

  • Downtown. Workbar Downtown, Apex and Sip Café are near State, which has the Orange and Blue lines. Park Street and Downtown Crossing are also within a short walk.
  • Back Bay. Workbar Back Bay is at Arlington, and The Irving is at Copley. Both stations are on every Green Line branch.
  • Fort Point. Headroom is next to Courthouse. Take the Red Line to South Station, then a Silver Line bus one stop.

How to do it in Where2Meet

Post one Where2Meet link on the meetup's event page or in the group chat, and members open it without an account. A few regulars add the station they leave from after work, so you can compare transit times to Workbar Downtown against Back Bay Social. Let the group vote between the room and the bar, then the organizer books the winner.

Common questions

How much does a networking event venue cost in Boston?

Workbar's event space starts at $250 an hour, with prices that change by location and day. Bars with a reserved section set their own terms, so ask each one about a minimum spend.

Which of these places can host a weekend networking event?

Workbar takes events anytime on weekends. Apex opens at 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and Back Bay Social is open every day from 11 a.m.

How late can a networking event run if guests take the T?

The MBTA's subway guide says to reach a downtown transfer station by 12:35 a.m. Sunday to Thursday. Ending by 9 p.m. leaves plenty of room for guests with long trips.
