If you're deciding where to watch the game in Boston with a group, start at the bars around Haymarket station, where the Orange Line and the Green Line's D and E branches stop. Two of the picks below are a 3- or 4-minute walk from it. Your friends live in Somerville, Quincy and Brookline, and nobody wants to watch kickoff alone on a phone.

This post lists seven bars set up for watching sports, from Haymarket to the Seaport. It covers which stops to use, how to hold a table for a big group and how to get home after a late game. It's part of our guide to Boston.

Which watch party bar in Boston fits your group?

Pick by the T line most of the group rides, then by how loud you want the room. The Haymarket bars suit Orange and Green line riders.

Our picks in Boston

Chosen by the Where2Meet team. Photos, ratings and addresses load live from Google Maps.

  • Durty Nelly's

Rugby fans should know this two-story Irish pub hosts New England Free Jacks parties, its website says. It's inexpensive, good for groups and open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily, but it takes no reservations. Haymarket is about a 4-minute walk.

  • The Point Boston

Book a table here when the group needs a sure spot for a big game, since this mid-priced bar takes reservations and plans private events. It stays open until 2 a.m. Thursday to Saturday but closes at 11:30 p.m. Monday to Wednesday. Haymarket is about a 3-minute walk.

  • J.J. Donovan's Tavern

Walk in with a small crowd for an inexpensive night of sports close to two transfer stations. It doesn't take bookings and closes at 1 a.m. every night. State, where the Orange and Blue lines meet, is about a 5-minute walk.

  • The Black Rose

Plan around the band at this mid-priced Irish pub, which has live music seven nights a week, its website says. Book a table online and come early for the pregame. It's open until 2 a.m. daily, and Aquarium on the Blue Line is about a 3-minute walk.

  • 21st Amendment

Riders on the Red and Green lines can reach this mid-priced bar beside the State House in about 5 minutes on foot from Park Street. It takes no reservations, has outdoor seating and stays open until 2 a.m. every night.

  • Corner Pub

Groups coming in on the Red Line or commuter rail can walk here from South Station in about 6 minutes. This mid-priced bar suits groups and takes party requests through its website, but not table reservations. It closes at 10 p.m. on Sunday and at 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

  • F1 Arcade Boston

Formula 1 fans can watch every Grand Prix live on big screens here and race simulators between sessions. It's mid-priced, takes reservations and welcomes all ages, though racers must be 7. The Courthouse stop on the Silver Line is about a 5-minute walk.

Google Maps

Hours, price levels, reservations and the sports, group and live music details on these cards come from Google Maps as of November 2026. Walk times are Google Maps walking directions from the station each note names. Other details come from each bar's own website.

The Black Rose has live music every night, and Durty Nelly's has it on weekends, so the stage can drown out the game. If the group wants to hear the commentary, pick a bar without a band.

Where to watch the game on a Celtics or Bruins home night?

Away from TD Garden, unless your group is ready for a crowd. The Garden sits above North Station, about a 10-minute walk from the Haymarket picks, and the Celtics and Bruins play their home games there.

On those nights, ticket holders fill the same few blocks. Check the Celtics schedule and the Bruins schedule before you choose. If your game isn't the one at the Garden, Corner Pub by South Station or 21st Amendment on Beacon Hill keeps you away from the arena traffic.

How do you hold a table for a big watch party?

Book where you can, and send one person early where you can't. When you book, ask for a table that faces a screen.

The Point, The Black Rose and F1 Arcade all take reservations. F1 Arcade's Boston page also offers semi-private rooms and private hire for larger groups. Corner Pub has a party request form. Durty Nelly's, J.J. Donovan's and 21st Amendment take no bookings, so the first person there holds the table.

How do you get home after a late game?

Pick a bar near a transfer station and watch the clock. The subway doesn't run all night, and a game that starts at 10 p.m. Eastern can end after the last connection.

The MBTA's subway guide says to reach a downtown transfer station by 12:35 a.m. Sunday to Thursday, or 1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. J.J. Donovan's is close to State, and 21st Amendment is close to Park Street, where the Red Line meets every Green Line branch.

How to do it in Where2Meet

Whoever offers to grab the table opens a Where2Meet plan a day before the game and drops the link in the group chat. Each fan adds the station they'd ride from, such as Quincy Center, Davis or Coolidge Corner, and the group compares transit times to Haymarket, State and Park Street. If two bars tie, put them to a vote, and the organizer picks the one that still has a table by kickoff.
