The best office holiday party venue in Back Bay is the one that holds your count and lets everyone catch the ride home. These picks range from a small hotel room to a ballroom, all within a short walk of a T station. You have a head count that keeps moving, a budget someone has to approve, and coworkers who scatter to the Green Line, the Orange Line and commuter rail when it ends.

This post, part of our Back Bay guide, lists seven places, then covers what to ask before you pay a deposit and when the last trains leave. For game bars and Seaport options, see where to book a holiday party venue in Boston.

Which office holiday party venue in Back Bay fits your head count?

Decide between a seated dinner and a standing reception first, then match the room. The same room can hold far more people standing.

Our picks in Back Bay

Chosen by the Where2Meet team. Photos, ratings and addresses load live from Google Maps.

  • Back Bay Social

Bring a team out after work to this moderately priced Boylston Street restaurant, which takes groups from 20 to 200. The high tops by the windows seat 30, and it stays open to 2 a.m. Hynes is about a 6-minute walk, and Copley about 7.

  • Club Café

Staff holiday parties appear by name on this Columbus Avenue venue's event page. Its Napoleon Room has table seating for 50, a baby grand piano and audio and video gear, and prices are moderate. Arlington is about a 7-minute walk, and Back Bay station about 8.

  • Rochambeau

Mid-sized companies can use the Bordeaux Room at this expensive French restaurant, which seats 75 or holds 130 at a reception. It closes at 10 p.m. Monday to Thursday and 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Hynes is about a 4-minute walk.

  • The Lenox Hotel Boston

Send your company name and count through this Exeter Street hotel's event form. The Dome room lists 150, and the Heritage room takes a 50-person dinner or a 130-person reception. Copley is about a 3-minute walk.

  • Fairmont Copley Plaza, Boston

Companies of 100 or more have the widest choice at this Copley Square hotel, where the St. James Room takes 120 at a banquet and the Grand Ballroom 580. Copley is about a 2-minute walk, and Back Bay station about 3.

  • Stratus

Book through View Boston's event team to bring coworkers to this 51st-floor bar in the Prudential Tower. It holds 50 indoors and 200 outdoors, and it closes at 10 p.m. Hynes is about a 6-minute walk, and Copley about 7.

  • Contessa Boston

Save this 17th-floor Italian restaurant for a small team with a big budget, because its prices run very expensive. The hotel says its brick-lined wine room takes private events but gives no head count, so call first. Arlington is about a 2-minute walk.

Google Maps

The hours, price levels and walk times on these cards come from Google Maps as of November 2026. Head counts and room names come from each venue's own event page, linked under Common questions.

What should you ask before you pay a deposit?

Ask what the minimum covers, how the count changes by format and where guests go if it's cold. Get the answers in writing before anyone signs.

  • The count. Check the number for your format. Back Bay Social's Down Bar seats 65 but holds 100 standing.
  • The minimum. Ask whether a food and drink minimum includes tax and the service charge, since both change what the company pays.
  • The cold. Outdoor counts don't help much in December. Rochambeau's patio seats 65 and the largest count at Stratus is outdoors, so ask where the group goes in bad weather.
  • The date. Give the venue two dates, and say early if a weeknight would work.

When do coworkers need to leave to get home?

Set the end time from the commuter rail schedule, because those riders have the fewest ways home. A party that ends by 9:45 p.m. leaves time to walk to Back Bay station from any of these picks, which are at most about 15 minutes away.

  • Commuter rail. The MBTA's schedules for December 10 and 11, 2026, show the last two outbound trains from Back Bay at 10:06 and 11:51 p.m. on the Worcester line, and 10:15 p.m. and midnight on the Franklin line. The Needham and Providence/Stoughton lines leave at 10:50 p.m. and midnight. Anyone who misses the first of the two waits more than an hour.
  • Green Line. Copley and Arlington have all four branches and elevators. Hynes has no elevators, so send anyone who needs one to Copley.
  • Late subway. The MBTA's subway guide says to reach a downtown transfer station by 12:35 a.m. Sunday to Thursday, or by 1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.

How to do it in Where2Meet

Drop one Where2Meet link in the office channel and ask coworkers to add the station they ride home from, because the trip home sets this party's end time. Search by name for the Copley Plaza and Back Bay Social, one beside Back Bay station and the other nearer Hynes, then compare transit times for your commuter rail riders. After the team votes, the organizer picks the final spot and calls its event team.
