Where to hold a team meeting in Midtown

Where to hold a team meeting in Midtown depends on the station most of your team rides into. Book a room or a table a few minutes' walk from Times Sq-42 St, Grand Central, Herald Square or Bryant Park, since those stations serve 18 subway lines plus the 42 St Shuttle on weekdays between them. Maybe half the team commutes from Brooklyn and two people take Metro-North in from Westchester. A spot by the right station gives most of them a ride with no transfer.
This post lists eight places to meet and what changes after work. It is part of our guide to Midtown.
Where to hold a team meeting in Midtown?
Pick by what the meeting needs, from a room with a door to a lunch the whole team can share. Each walk is from the station named.
- Convene, for a booked venue. Google lists it as an event venue on West 46th Street, about a 2-minute walk from the 47-50 Sts-Rockefeller Ctr station. Google lists it as open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays only.
- Culture Espresso, for a quick check-in. A coffee shop on West 38th Street, about a 5-minute walk from the 42 St-Bryant Pk station. Google lists it as inexpensive and not good for groups, so keep it to two or three people.
- Bryant Park Grill, for a booked lunch. A restaurant on West 40th Street, about a 3-minute walk from the 42 St-Bryant Pk station. Google lists it as taking reservations and good for groups.
- Vanderbilt Market, for a lunch where everyone picks. A food hall at 230 Park Avenue, about a 4-minute walk from Grand Central. Google lists it as good for groups and moderately priced.
- Grand Central Oyster Bar, for a client lunch. An oyster bar and restaurant on East 42nd Street, about a 2-minute walk from Grand Central. Google lists it as taking reservations and expensive.
- The Campbell, for drinks after work. A bar about a 1-minute walk from Grand Central, open from noon to 2 a.m. every day. Google lists it as taking reservations.
- miss KOREA BBQ, for a lunch to share. Korean barbecue on West 32nd Street, about a 5-minute walk from the Herald Square station. Google lists it as open 24 hours and good for groups.
- Junior's, for a big table near Times Square. A restaurant on Broadway at West 45th Street, about a 5-minute walk from the Times Sq-42 St station. Google lists it as taking reservations and good for groups.

What changes after work and on weekends?
Fewer trains run here at night and on weekends, and some picks close. On weekends, the B, M and W don't run through Midtown, and Convene, Vanderbilt Market and the Oyster Bar are closed. Late at night, the B, C, M, R, W and 5 don't run here either, and the 42 St Shuttle stops from about midnight to 6 a.m., as its MTA timetable says.

If the meeting turns into dinner downtown, see our group dinner spots in Lower Manhattan. For a Saturday team outing, see our weekend hangout spots on the Upper West Side.
How to do it in Where2Meet
Where2Meet lets a team plan where to meet from one shared link. Nobody needs an account.
- Open Where2Meet, choose the Team meeting chip, pick the date and time, and add your name.
- Share the link. Each person adds where they're coming from, or an approximate area, or you add it for them.
- Search for rooms or restaurants around the group, or look one up by name.
- Select a place to see each person's route and travel time by car, transit, walking or bike.
- Everyone votes, and the organizer picks the final spot. Changes show up without a refresh.
Common questions
Which Midtown station gives the most people a direct ride?
Times Sq-42 St has the 1, 2, 3, 7, N, Q, R and W, plus the A, C and E at its Eighth Avenue end. 34 St-Herald Sq has the B, D, F, M, N, Q, R and W.
Where should teammates from New Jersey get off?
PATH trains from Hoboken and Jersey City stop at 33 St, next to Herald Square. A lunch near Herald Square, such as miss KOREA BBQ, keeps their walk short.
Where do teammates on Metro-North arrive?
Metro-North trains end at Grand Central Terminal, where the 4, 5, 6 and 7 also stop. The Campbell, the Oyster Bar and Vanderbilt Market are each a few minutes' walk away.
