Where to meet up in Koreatown

Koreatown sits between Downtown LA and Hollywood, a few miles west of the office towers. It suits a group dinner, a Korean barbecue night, karaoke with friends or a coffee after work. Wilshire Boulevard runs through the middle, and the D Line stations are all on it, so a spot close to Wilshire works for the people who ride the train. Friends who drive should plan for street parking or a paid lot.

Places that work as a meeting point:

  • the Wiltern, the theater at Wilshire Boulevard and Western Avenue, at the Wilshire/Western station
  • the Wilshire/Vermont station, where the B and D lines meet
  • the LINE Hotel on Wilshire Boulevard, near the Wilshire/Normandie station

Getting around

  • The D Line stops at Wilshire/Vermont, Wilshire/Normandie and Wilshire/Western. It runs east to Downtown LA and west to Miracle Mile.
  • The B Line shares Wilshire/Vermont with the D, then turns north to Hollywood, Universal City and North Hollywood. Friends from the Valley can ride in without changing trains.
  • Parking. Metro's B and D Line timetable lists no station parking in Koreatown. On these two lines, it lists parking only at Union Station, Universal City and North Hollywood.

At night and on weekends:

  • Each line runs about every 10 minutes in the daytime and every 20 minutes late at night, on weekdays and weekends alike.
  • The last D Line train toward Downtown LA leaves Wilshire/Western at 12:11 a.m. The last one back from Union Station reaches Wilshire/Western at 12:26 a.m.
  • Line 20 runs all night on Wilshire Boulevard between Downtown LA and Santa Monica, with a stop at Wilshire/Vermont station. After midnight it comes about every 30 minutes, every night, as its timetable shows.
