Where to meet up in Downtown LA

Downtown LA is where most Metro Rail lines cross, so it suits a group coming from different parts of the county. It works for a lunch near the office towers on Bunker Hill, dinner in Little Tokyo or the Arts District, or a drink before a game or a concert at Crypto.com Arena. Drivers and train riders can both get here, which helps when the group is split between the two.
Places that are easy to name in a plan:
- Grand Central Market on Broadway, near the Historic Broadway station
- the old waiting room of Union Station, where Metrolink and Amtrak riders arrive
- Grand Park, which runs from the Music Center down to City Hall
- Japanese Village Plaza in Little Tokyo, near the Little Tokyo/Arts District station
- Pershing Square, at the station of the same name
Getting around
- 7th St/Metro Center is the main transfer point. The A, B, D and E lines all stop there.
- Union Station has the A, B and D lines. Metro's timetables list parking there, but not at 7th St/Metro Center, so a driver who wants to park once and ride should aim for Union Station.
- The A and E lines share three stations past 7th St, at Grand Av Arts/Bunker Hill, Historic Broadway and Little Tokyo/Arts District.
- The B and D lines share the stops from Union Station to Wilshire/Vermont. Together they run about every 5 minutes in the daytime and every 10 minutes late at night, on weekdays and weekends.
Late at night, check the last train for each person's way home. These times are the same every day, as Metro's timetables show:
- The last B Line train toward Hollywood leaves Union Station at 12:02 a.m.
- The last D Line train toward Koreatown leaves Union Station at 12:12 a.m.
- The last A Line train toward Pasadena leaves 7th St/Metro Center at 12:04 a.m.
- The last E Line train toward Santa Monica leaves 7th St/Metro Center at 12:40 a.m.
After the trains stop, Metro's owl buses run from midnight to 4 a.m. Its Night Services map shows the routes and says Union Station is open 24 hours.
