A good class reunion venue in Back Bay gives classmates room to walk around and sits close to a T station or the airport bus. Start with the standing count, because people come to talk to everyone, not just the two beside them. Replies are still coming in, some classmates are flying from other states, and nobody wants to be stuck at one table all night.

This post, part of our Back Bay guide, lists eight places, then covers standing counts, the ride from Logan and late second stops. For North Station and Seaport picks, see where to hold a class reunion in Boston.

What makes a good class reunion venue in Back Bay?

Look for a room that holds your likely turnout standing, with a station a few minutes away.

Our picks in Back Bay

Chosen by the Where2Meet team. Photos, ratings and addresses load live from Google Maps.

  • Back Bay Social

Slideshow plans point to this Boylston Street restaurant, since its event page offers screens and a sound system. It takes groups of 20 to 200, is moderately priced and stays open until 2 a.m. every night. Hynes is about a 6-minute walk, and Copley about 7.

  • Rochambeau

Reserve a room at this French restaurant when the class wants cocktails and a sit-down meal at one address. Prices run expensive, and it closes by 11 p.m., so plan a second stop. Hynes is about a 4-minute walk, and Prudential about 7.

  • The Tower: A Longwood Venue

Big classes can spread across this four-floor event venue, with drinks on one floor and a program on another. It has no public hours, so ask for a date before you send a save-the-date. Arlington is about a 4-minute walk, and Back Bay station about 10.

  • The Lenox Hotel Boston

Out-of-town classmates can sleep where the party is at this Exeter Street hotel. Its event inquiry form asks whether you need overnight rooms, so give your count there. Copley is about a 3-minute walk, and Back Bay station about 8.

  • Clerys

Late nights suit this Dartmouth Street pub, open until 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday. It closes at 8 p.m. on Sunday and all day Monday. It takes reservations, suits groups and is moderately priced. Back Bay station is about a 2-minute walk.

  • The College Club of Boston

Smaller classes that prefer a house to a ballroom can use this Commonwealth Avenue brownstone. Ask the office whether a member must book, since its events page doesn't say. Arlington is about a 5-minute walk, and Copley about 9.

  • The Red Room at Cafe 939

Classmates who want to play live can rent this Berklee music room, which has sound, lighting and a baby grand piano. First-time renters file an application before holding a date. Hynes is about a 4-minute walk, and Copley about 9.

  • Fairmont Copley Plaza, Boston

Milestone years with a big turnout have the most room here, since this Copley Square hotel lists a banquet count of 580 in its largest room. Guests can book rooms upstairs. Copley is about a 2-minute walk, and Back Bay station about 3.

Google Maps

The hours, price levels, reservations and walk times on these cards come from Google Maps as of November 2026. Walk times start at each MBTA station. Room counts come from each venue's own event page, linked below.

How many classmates can stand in each room?

Book by the standing count if people will circulate, and by the seated count only if dinner comes first. These are the published reception or standing counts:

  • Up to 80. Clerys' Bistro room holds up to 70. The College Club holds up to 80.
  • 100 to 150. Back Bay Social's Down Bar holds 100. Rochambeau's Bordeaux Room holds 130. The Lenox's Heritage Room holds 130, and its Dome Room takes up to 150 guests. Clerys' cellar takes up to 150.
  • 200 to 375. Berklee lists the Red Room at up to 200 with all seats out. The Tower's Lounge and Library hold 250 each, and its Parlor holds 300. All four floors hold 375 when combined.

The Bordeaux Room seats 75, and the Heritage Room seats 50. The Copley Plaza's page gives banquet and theater counts, so ask its sales office for a standing number.

How do classmates flying in get to Back Bay?

Classmates landing at Logan can ride the free Back Bay Logan Express. Buses leave the airport every 30 minutes from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

The bus makes two stops, so name the closer one in your invitation:

  1. Stuart Street, near Back Bay station. The Copley Plaza is about a 1-minute walk, and Clerys about 3.
  2. 800 Boylston Street, near the Prudential Center. Back Bay Social is about a 1-minute walk. Rochambeau, the Lenox and the Red Room are each about 3.

The ride back to Logan costs $3 and runs from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Where can the class go after the room closes?

Choose the second stop before the night starts, and keep it a short walk away. Back Bay Social and Clerys are the two late picks here.

  • To Back Bay Social. It's about a 2-minute walk from Rochambeau or the Red Room, and about 5 from the Lenox.
  • To Clerys. It's about a 4-minute walk from the Copley Plaza, and about 9 from the Lenox or The Tower.

The T stops before those bars close. The MBTA's subway guide says to reach a downtown transfer station by 1:30 a.m. on Friday and Saturday to make the last connections, and none are in Back Bay.

How to do it in Where2Meet

Send one Where2Meet link to the class list, and ask classmates who moved away to add the station or bus stop where they'll arrive, not their home. Search by name for the Lenox and The Tower, since one sits by Copley and the other by Arlington, then compare walking and transit times before the class votes. The organizer picks the room once the vote and the reply count line up.

Common questions

Can you hold a class reunion at a private club in Back Bay?

Ask a classmate who belongs first. The 'Quin House says its private gatherings are hosted by members, and the Harvard Club of Boston describes private events as something members host. We left both off the list for that reason.

Which class reunion venue in Back Bay can show a slideshow?

Back Bay Social's event page lists screens and a sound system. Rochambeau says its events team handles A/V. Ask any other venue before you build a slideshow around it.

Should classmates pay for a reunion in advance?

Yes, if the venue sets a minimum spend. Ask for that minimum and the date your final count is due. Then set a ticket price that covers the minimum at your low-end turnout.
