Where to meet up in Wicker Park

Wicker Park is a neighborhood northwest of downtown, built around the six-way crossing of North, Damen and Milwaukee avenues. Milwaukee Avenue and Division Street are lined with bars, cafes, restaurants and shops, so it suits a weekend brunch, a night out with friends or a show at a music venue. It is one Blue Line ride from downtown and from O'Hare.

Places that work as a meeting point:

  • the corner of North, Damen and Milwaukee avenues, under the Blue Line tracks
  • Wicker Park itself, the park on Damen Avenue south of North Avenue
  • the Division Blue Line station, where Division Street meets Milwaukee Avenue
  • the entrance to the 606 trail on Damen Avenue, at the north edge of the area

Getting around

  • The Blue Line stops at Damen, an elevated station at 1558 N. Damen Ave., and Division, a subway station at 1200 N. Milwaukee Ave. Trains run downtown one way and toward O'Hare the other.
  • Buses #50, #56 and #72 stop at Damen, and #9, #X9, #56 and #70 stop at Division, as the station pages list.

At night and on weekends:

  • The Blue Line runs at all hours, every day, as the Blue Line page says. For a late plan, both stations have trains through the night.
