Where to meet up in Boston's Seaport

The Seaport District sits across Fort Point Channel from downtown Boston, along the harbor. It's a newer area of office towers, hotels and restaurants, so it suits drinks after work, a team dinner, or an afternoon by the water with friends. Several bridges over the channel link it to the Financial District and South Station.

Spots that are easy to name in a plan:

  • the Institute of Contemporary Art, on the harbor at Fan Pier
  • Seaport Boulevard, the main street through the district
  • the Harborwalk path along the water
  • South Station, across the channel, for anyone arriving by train

Getting around

The Seaport has no subway station. The Silver Line connects it to South Station on the Red Line. The MBTA's subway guide notes that the Silver Line is a bus, and that riders on the SL1, SL2 and SL3 pay the subway fare.

  • The SL1, SL2 and SL3 all leave South Station and stop at Courthouse, World Trade Center and Silver Line Way.
  • After Silver Line Way, the SL1 goes to the Logan Airport terminals, the SL2 to the Design Center on Drydock Avenue, and the SL3 to Chelsea by way of Airport station on the Blue Line.

At night, the SL2 schedule has its last buses leaving South Station around 1 a.m., and on Sunday its first bus leaves at 6:30 a.m., an hour later than on weekdays. From South Station, the Red Line keeps the subway guide's typical hours, until 1 a.m. most nights and 2 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
